A complete guide to Fiberax backup solutions
Backup is a critical element of data protection in every organization. At Fiberax we offer several types of backup — from simple VPS snapshots, through agent-based protection, to advanced Veeam solutions. This guide explains when to use each option and which one is best for your environment.
1. VPS Backup – creating snapshots directly from the Fiberax panel
VPS Backup is the simplest way to protect a virtual server. The snapshot is created directly from the Fiberax panel and allows you to restore the entire machine to a previous point in time.
What is it used for?
- Creating snapshots of the entire VPS.
- Quickly recovering the server after system issues or failed updates.
- Ideal before configuration changes.
Advantages:
- Very easy to use.
- Fast full restore.
- No agents required.
Limitations:
- It is a snapshot, not a full file-level backup.
- It does not create an off-site copy.
- It does not protect against ransomware if malware encrypts the entire server.
2. Veeam Agent – backup for servers, virtual machines and workstations
Veeam Agent is a flexible tool for data protection on physical servers, virtual machines (in-guest) and employee workstations. Backups are stored in the Fiberax cloud and can be restored at system, volume or file level.
Which license should you choose?
Veeam Agent Workstation — for protecting desktops and laptops.
Veeam Agent Server — for Windows/Linux production servers.
Veeam Agent for VM — for virtual machines requiring guest-level backup.
Main features:
- Full system, volume or file-level backup.
- Incremental jobs for efficiency.
- Backup encryption.
- Bare-metal recovery.
3. Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 – protection for mail, files and Teams
Microsoft does not provide full backup of user data. Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 protects:
- Exchange Online – emails, calendars, contacts,
- SharePoint Online – sites and libraries,
- OneDrive for Business – user files,
- Microsoft Teams – messages, files and team structure.
When should you choose it?
- If your company uses Microsoft 365.
- If you must meet compliance and archiving requirements.
- If you need granular recovery (single emails, files, folders).

4. Veeam Cloud Connect – off-site backup for customers with their own Veeam server (VBR)
Veeam Cloud Connect enables sending backups to the Fiberax cloud without building a second datacenter. It is the best way to meet the 3-2-1 backup rule.
When should you choose it?
- If you already have your own Veeam backup server (VBR Server).
- If you want an off-site copy of your backups.
- If you want additional protection against ransomware.

5. What is a VBR Server (Veeam Backup & Replication Server)?
A VBR Server is the central component of a Veeam backup infrastructure. It manages backup policies, repositories, job configuration and virtual machine replication.
When do you need it?
- If you have a large environment with many virtual machines.
- If you operate as an MSP and manage multiple clients.
- If you want to use Veeam Cloud Connect.
- If you need virtual machine replication (DRaaS).
6. When should you use Veeam ONE?
Veeam ONE is an advanced monitoring and reporting tool for backup and virtual environments. It helps detect issues early, ensures compliance and improves operational visibility.
What is it used for?
- 24/7 backup monitoring and alerts,
- compliance and audit reporting,
- ransomware risk detection and anomaly analysis,
- capacity planning and performance analytics.
When should you choose it?
- If you have a large virtual infrastructure,
- If you need end-to-end visibility of all backups,
- If you operate as an MSP and need multi-tenant oversight,
- If your organization must meet strict audit requirements.
